Privacy Policy

Cortis & COERs is an unofficial fan site. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you visit, comment, take a quiz or make a COER ID.

The short version. There are no accounts here, and you never have to give your email. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used and Google AdSense to show ads, and both use cookies. Comments are public. Photos you add to the COER ID generator or the Photobooth never leave your device.

Who runs this site

Cortis & COERs is made by Lia Virginia (liavirginia.com). It is a fan project and is not affiliated with CORTIS, BIGHIT MUSIC or HYBE. If you have a question about this policy, use the contact page.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, how far people scroll, which links and buttons are clicked, when a quiz is started or finished and with what result, when a COER ID is downloaded, and when a comment is posted or liked. We never send your name, your comment, what you type into a form or your uploaded photo to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics uses cookies and receives technical information such as your IP address, device, browser and approximate location. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads, which helps pay for hosting and keeps everything here free.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google may ask for your consent before showing personalised ads.

Comments and likes

When you leave a comment or a question, we store the display name you choose, your bias, what you wrote and when you posted it. Comments are public. To stop spam we also keep your IP address, but only as a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) that cannot be turned back into your IP.

When you like a comment, your browser creates a random ID so you can unlike it later. We store a scrambled version of that ID, never your name.

An earlier version of the comment form let people add an email address to be told about replies. That option has been removed. If you gave an email back then, it was only ever used for those notices and was never shown on the site. Every notice email included a link to turn them off, and you can also ask us to delete it.

What stays in your own browser

Some small things are saved in your browser’s local storage and never sent anywhere: the name and bias you last used in the comment form, the random ID used for likes, and which comments you have liked. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser data for this site.

Quizzes, the COER ID generator and the Photobooth

Quizzes run entirely in your browser. When you share a result, the link only contains your score or which member you got, nothing about you.

The COER ID generator draws your card in your browser. If you upload your own photo, it is opened on your device and is never uploaded to our server.

The Photobooth works the same way. The camera, the photos you take or upload and the strip you download all stay in your browser, and nothing is sent to our server. If you turn on hug mode, your browser downloads a small open-source tool (MediaPipe, from cdn.jsdelivr.net) and its model (from storage.googleapis.com) so it can cut you out of your photo. That cutting happens on your device too; your photos are not sent to those services.

Embedded content and fonts

Some posts include players from services such as Spotify or YouTube, and the site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When those load, the services receive your IP address and may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like any web host, their servers keep standard technical logs of requests, such as IP address, date and page, for security and maintenance.

Your choices

Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Turn off personalised ads with the links in the advertising section above.
Ask us to remove a comment you wrote, or any email address you gave in the past, through the contact page. Tell us the page and the display name you used.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If anything here changes, this page will be updated and the date below will change with it.
